Summer in Desolation Wilderness (near Lake Tahoe) is a wonderful time for beautiful vistas and mountain wildflowers. These Indian Paintbrush and Lupine were blooming on a trail going from Gilmore Lake to Mt. Tallac (about 10,000 feet) on a mid-July hike I took with a friend. I was happy to take a short rest break on our climb and enjoy the wildflowers.
